2015 Reflection

Hi, This is my blog post about my reflection about 2015, I feel so happy that I came to Pt England school and what I feel about being a year 7 is awesome because I am a future year 8 and I have had so much fun with team 5 and going on so many trips. What I didn't like about this year was getting in trouble. What I found difficult about this year was solving some of my maths problems and finding the answers and I found it difficult to finish my work on time. If I could grade myself for being awesome from 10-10 I would chose 8-10 because I have been awesome a lot but sometimes I get in trouble but I do finish my work in time. The fundraisers that we did this year was cake stalls to help netball girls pay their fees, we had a garage sale for the year 8 camp and we did lots of other fundraisers. For 2016 What I would change about myself is participating  in more sports and other stuff for next year because it will be my last year at Pt England school.For next year I want my teacher to know how smart I am and how I solve my problems. For next year I would want more help with my maths. I would show my teachers how I work things out.

Manaiakalani Film Festival.

On Wednesday the 11th of November it was the Manaiakalani film festival.When the year 7 & 8’s from Pt England school arrived at Sylvia Park we were all so excited to watch the amazing movies from Pt England school and from Ruapotaka school. My favourite film was room 1 from Pt England school and their movie was about say something kind and think about what you say before you say it. My second favourite movie was Ant boy and it was about people killing ants and one person turned into an ant. My third favourite movie was room 3 and their movie was about being in the right place right time right attitude.

What I liked about the other movies were that it had a great meaning like keep your germs to yourself, listen to other people’s side of the story before you put them in jail and make most of your time being young. Once we finished watching all the Manaiakalani movies we went outside and saw our teacher Mrs Moala and her baby and it was good to see her again. Then finally we were off to school to enjoy the rest of school while some people stayed at Sylvia Park to present in front of other schools.

Athletics

On the 13th of October it was athletics day for Pt England school. Pt England school had 4 different teams and they aren Hinemoana, Hokule’a, Te Aurere, and Hikianalia.

My favourite activity from athletics was the relays because my team worked really well together and we helped each other and cheered for each other as we went. The activity I found challenging was the sprints and the tagger war.I found tagger war hard easy in the first 2 rounds but when we versed Hikianalia and Te Aurere they were really hard to beat because they we strong and they worked together as a team to win.

Finally after all that running and doing the activities it was lunch time and we finally had some rest and had something to eat. As soon as the bell rang it was time to go back to have some more fun at athletics.It was time to do high jump and I really enjoyed high jump because all we did was have fun while jumping on the mat and enjoying athletics while we can.

When athletics was over I couldn’t stop thinking about how much fun everyone had. What I enjoyed about athletics was working as a team with the year 7 girls, participating in the activities, I also enjoy myself and I enjoyed having fun at athletics and I enjoy being a year 7.

Coming up

Hello, This is my presentation about a story I was reading called Coming up. My group and I got a journal each so we can pick a story in the journal and answer these questions about the story on the presentation. I chose this story because the title sound interesting. Rainbow's End !!!!

On Friday the 20th of November it was the best day ever for the year 7's at Pt England school. If you are wondering why it was the best day ever it was because the year 7's at Pt England school 2015 we had a year 7 trip to Rainbow's End. As soon as we got to Rainbows End we had to wait to get our Rainbows End ticket. Once everyone got their ticket we ran through the gates and the first ride that my group and I went on was the stratosphere. My group and I were up next to go on the stratosphere and I was so scared to go on it because it was my first time on it. As soon as I got on the ride I was so nervous and I saw Mrs Tele'a coming my way with her camera and that made me even more nervous. Mrs Tele'a saw me and Mahana on the ride and she told us to just breath and relax and as soon as I was getting calm the ride started and I couldn't stop freaking out. I couldn't stop screaming when the ride went up and down and round and round I was getting dizzy all ready and all I could was Mrs Tele'a and Mr Wisemen just laughing at me. Finally the ride was over and my guts told me to not go on it again but my heart tell me yay lets do that again so I went back on the ride 3 more times then I went to explore the other rides.

The next ride I went on was the fear fall and I have been on that ride lots of times but this time when the ride was over I think that is the scariest ride. After going on these rides it was time for morning tea and it was time to a have a break from all those rides. As soon as I finished eating me and Mahana went on the roller coaster and all we did was scream loud as because we were at the back and the people in front of us were just laughing at us. As we were on the roller coast we shouting Mr Wisemen how many times and he finally saw us when the ride was over. So Mahana and I went to catch up with the rest of our group and this time we had to stick together. Our group had to vote on 2 rides that we had to go on together and the votes were Invader and Stratosphere. The first ride we went on was the Invader because we wanted to save the best for last. Once the ride was over we ran to the stratosphere and waited in line. We were next in line and more and more Pt England kids just jumped over the fence and went on the stratosphere with us and once the ride was over we all ran as fast as we can because we only had a few minutes to do the roll call and get on the bus. Finally we made it just in time and off we went to school. The year 7's went to the field and had a break from Rainbow's End.

The secret underground

Kia Ora, This is my blog post about The secret underground. This presentation has facts about animals that live in different habitats. I hope when you read this presentation you will learn something about these creatures  

A time when losing something.

First, at the beginning of the year I got my new uniform along with my new school hat. On the first day of school it was really sunny so I had to wear my hat if I wanted to play outside in the sun. A few weeks later I lost my hat and I tried to look for it but it was lost and I gave up looking for it.

The season went past and it was winter so I didn’t need my hat anymore. When I lost my hat I felt disappointed because my mum might waste her money on buying me a new hat.

It’s finally term 4 and it’s nearly summer. We had an Immersion Assembly and that is when the teachers mentioned bringing our hats back to school. I tried looking for my hat again at school and I finally found my hat it was in our green room. I found my hat in a big pile of clothes in the green room so now and am happy that I found my hat because now I can play out in the sun.

Now that I found my new hat I will try my best to look after it and try to find a safe place to put it.

Bee Poster

Hello, This is my Honey bee poster. This poster has facts about bees and what I really enjoyed about doing this poster is learning about what bees can do. What I learned about bees is that as soon as they are born they work straight away. I hope when you read these facts about bees you would learn some things you didn't know about bees.

Immersion Assembly

                    Immersion Assembly

On the 12th of October it was the first day of term 4 at school. I walked into the team 5 building with my friends and we went to see who our new teacher was and her name is Miss Hockly. As soon as we finished our team 5 notices we went to start our Immersion Assembly. Our school topic is survivors and what most of the teachers talked about was surviving.

Each team presented something about the topic survivors.

Team 1 had some people to go up and sing and the winner got a prize to go to the zoo.

Team 2 had a movie about dinosaurs

Team 3 made their own dinosaur names and created their own dinosaurs.

Team 4 is studying animals and had a movie of teachers asking students where they were and what animal is behind them.

Team 5 ate noodles with chopsticks and the winner was Miss Clark. She won because she is from asia and she learned how to eat with chopsticks since she was little and the other teachers come from different places.

Mesela  is from Tonga and she eats with her hands.Miss Peato is from Samoa so she eats with her hands not chopsticks .Miss Ingram is from England and she eats with forks not with her hands or with chopsticks.Miss Hockly eats with forks not chopsticks or her hands.

First day of school recount

On the very first day of school I walked into the school hall and sat down with the rest of the seniors.I was so nervous because I didn't know anyone and because it was the first day of school. I could see all the students with smiles on their faces because they were so happy to see their friends. Once Mr Burt finished talking he sent all the students to go to their classes.

Finally we made it to the senior block and all the year 7 & 8 students sat down while the teachers introduced themselves and told us something about them. Once the teachers finished talking they called off our names to go to our class rooms but I had to go to room 3 so Mrs Tele'a can tell me what class room I need to go to. Once I walked into room 3 Mrs Tele'a started asking me questions but I was to nervous to talk.She told me that I had to go to Mrs Moala's class.

When I walked into Mrs Moala's class I was scared cause Mrs Moala told me to go up and tell everyone my name and she said my name wrong and I told the class room what my old school was. 

Finally school was almost finish and I was so happy because I got to know lots of kids and I was happy to be their friends.

Hi there this is my step by step instructions on how to make a personal logo. I hope these steps help you how to make your own logo.In this video it all so has some questions that you could answer.

If you watch this video this video has lots of steps that you could follow. When I started making my logo it was hard and from reading these instructions I now know how to make my own personal logo and what to change.So I hope when you watch this you will know how to make a personal logo and what a personal logo is.

Personal Logos

Intro: A personal logo is a logo that represents someone, their culture and is designed by themselves.

First, brainstorm ideas that would look cool on a logo. If no ideas come up then choose your favourite things.

Secondly, once you've found  some ideas draw them on a piece of paper and draw them as a thumbnail concept.A thumbnail concept is a drawing which is the same size as your thumbnail. Thirdly, use 2 of the best drawings and put them on Hyperstudio to trace.Be as neat as possible.

Lastly, Once the logos have been finished and drawn on Hyperstudio you print it. The reason why you need to print it is to see how it looks on paper and to see if there should be any changes.

Conclusion: If the logo doesn't need any changes then think of what that logo could be used for like it could be used for T-shirts, mugs or campaigning.

Cross Country

First the year 1's went to run and the year 7's were getting ready to run after the year 5's.Us girls we worming up, cheering for the younger kids. I was so nervous. When it was the year 5's to run it made me even more and more nervous.

After the year 5's ran it was time for the year 7 girls.I was so nervous to run but before we ran Mr Burt gathered all the year 7 girls and he told us when and what to do.As soon as Mr Burt said on your marks get set and he clapped the 2 woods together and all the girls ran their hardest.

As we were running I could hear people cheering and shouting peoples names and that made us girls happy and encouraging us to run faster. As soon as I ran past the black gates I was so tiered but I didn't stop I was power walking along with the other girls.

Finally I was up to my second lap and I was so happy because it was nearly over. I was running with some girls and we were trying our best and pacing ourselves too.But as I was running all I could think about is stopping but the girls I was running with reminded me about the korero which was champions never give up and that made us run faster.

Finally, I was running towards the finish line and as soon as it was over I went to drink some water and that made me feel so happy that it was over and I felt so proud.So when I was cooled down I started cheering for the rest of the girls and boys who were still running.

Groceries Store Mistakes

Today Mrs Moala's friend went to Australia and posted a picture this week. My maths class and I had figured out that the store in Australia has gave the wrong prices to the customers. The first mistake that they gave was Any 2 for $5 and the last one was when they wrote down Hass Avocado offer Country of origin Australian grown. Here is a picture of Groceries of mistakes and here is a picture that it should look like.

200 TaLa

Ratio Practice

This is what I did for maths in Mrs Moala's class it's my Ratio Practice.To me this assessment was easy to do for example on slide 5 all you had to do was count what the ratio of red to green and the answer is 4:3.

Spend,Share,Save

                                  

A spending goal is saving your things on something you want.                                It is important for you to set spending goals because some people waste all their money on lollies and other junk when they should save it for school fees or net ball fees or other things that are way more important. If you are saving your money and you need to put it in a save place it is best to put it in a piggy bank or in the bank.

Reality Trip

Today room 4 watched a t.v show about 5 New Zealanders who went to philippino.They thought they were doing fun things but what they did was doing really hard work which took them an hour to do then the next day they will do a full shift which will take more than an hour.When they were working they had to do 300 units in 1 hour and the girls did more then the boys.What I found shoking was how they didn't have a choice to go anywhere else or do anything else.What I also found shoking was how they had no break,they couldn't talk and they had to do it the next day as well.

Making Change

Today for maths today I was working on my making change.What I had to do for my making change was to make $68.20 in 5 different ways.

lmmersion Assembly

Monday the 20th of July was the first day of term 3.We had Immersion assembly which is a special assembly when our teachers dress up and show us something about our inquiry.As usual the teachers came up with something for our inquiry which was Trade and EnterPri$e.Trade and EnterPri$e is about spending our money on something.

Team 1 showed us how you can earn money by selling stuff and doing jobs as well.
Team 2 was about ice cream toppings and they called some people to go up and answer their question and they will get an ice cream.
Team 3 Showed us what they want to be when they grow up to get money.
Team 4 Showed us their feelings they have when they get money or other feelings
Team 5 Showed us how to spend your money on things you really need instead of spending it on expensive stuff that you can't afford.

Ronald Mac Donald

On July the 9th there was a little girl named Rosie who had a very special birthday turning 6 years old.She wanted a very special guest to come to her party which was Ronald Mac Donald.She was so happy that Ronald could make it to her party but the only thing she didn’t know about Ronald was that he likes cake so much that he steels cake.The little girl took lots of selfies with Ronald and it was finally time to light the candles and it was time for the little girl to make a wish.But out of no where Ronald started running to the girl and before she could even make a wish Ronald blew the candles and stole the cake.Ronald ran as fast as he can with the cake but he could not run that fast because of his clown outfit and it made him a bit slow to run.The girls parents called the cops and as soon as he got out of Mac Donald's the cops were there to arrest him.Before Ronald could even do anything he tipped the cake on his face and as soon as he had cake on his face he licked his hole face until it was clean.He got arrested from stealing the cake and the little girl told him if he wants to get out of jail he has to buy he has to buy the little girl cake for all her birthdays until she turns 21 years old. Brain Storm and my Plot Writing

For Mrs Moala's Literacy class we did a brainstorm of our story that we made up and a plot of our story.My story was about Ronald Mcdonald steeling cake at a girls birthday party.

Maths progress 3

For my maths progress I think I am at blue right now because I can solve problems different ways and I can find the best answer and why that is the best answer. I am working well with my group for maths I talk to them when I'm not sure of any questions and I help them even when I'm not sure what the answer is.What I think I need to work on to get on purple is to finish all my work before I get on Maths Whizz or on Matific.

What makes a good citizen

Today we had miss Kyla for maths and what we did with miss Kyla is talk about Digizen.We got to make a google drawing about what digizen means.This is my google drawing on top.

Reading Progress 2

I think I am on green because I have been finishing my work and doing the best I can to finish it.I make shore to ask for help when I need it the most or to read the story over and over until I get the answer.My next step is to be on blue and to be on blue I will have to work hard to get the answer and to finish my work on time or if I haven't finished and can finish it off at home.

Maths progress 2

In maths I think I have improved a lot because I have been finishing my work on time and figuring out different ways to solve the problem.I ask my group for a lot of help when I am not shore of how to get to the answer.My next step is to work harder to be on blue.What I think I need to work on to get to blue is to boost my confidence into presenting in front of my maths class.

World War 1

What me and my group did for the last few weeks we made a movie about world war 1.It was about 2 brothers who joined the first world war 1 Their names were George and Peter.The 2 brothers travelled and travelled along with other men until they got to war.The 2 brothers fought and fought until 1 of them got shot which was peter.

George went home and told his mother the bad news.His mother was so excited to see if her sons. As soon as she saw George she asked him where's Peter.George told his mother that he got shot by the Germans and he took him and his mother home.So that is what my group and I came up with for world war 1.

Maths progress

This is my maths progress,I think I am at orange because I talk to my friends and don't ask questions when I need it.

I will do my best to get my work finished and ask for help from my teacher and friends when I need it.I will try my best to get on green and over.

Reading

For reading today I am on orange because I talk a lot and I don't do my work or ask for help when I need it. I also talk to my friends a lot in maths and writing but I still get a little bit of my work done.

I will try my very best to do my finish my work and to ask for help when I need it. I will go to my friends if I have finished my work or go to them when I need help.

Tinkering,Toolz and Toyz

Today for Zeal Zone Team 5 began Tinkering Tools and toys.Our class spent time brainstorming ways that we could make Pt England a better place to be.I am in a group with May,Finau,Tyli,Nia and Ashanty.Our group name is Minions.

My group has decided that we are going to change the colour of our uniform.For the girls uniform they will have a t-shirt and a skirt,the colour is blue and purple and we changed the logo to a kiwi.The boys is uniform is a T-shirt and shorts and the same colour as the girls.That's what the minions came up with so far and we will come up with more ideas.

Inquiry

Today in class I reading how does a waterfall become electricity by Mike Graf. In this book I found out that Victoria Falls is one of the worlds most famous waterfall. I learned that 5 countries use hydroelectric powers and those countries are China, Canada, Brazil, the United States and Russia. Angel Falls Venezuela is the worlds tallest waterfall.Angel Falls drops 979 meters (3,212 feet) before crashing onto the ground below. The strength or force of the water is caused by gravity. Gravity is a force on Earth that pulls everything down toward earth's surface.energy from the water comes from the sun.

Maths Time

Today with miss kyla we learned about the the 3 p's. The 3 p's means partnership,participation and protection. For partnership it means like going on mail or skype to chat to your friends. For Participation it means to share good blog comments and for Protection it means to use your w.i.t.s.

PolyFest

3 things I enjoyed at PolyFest was:

1.I enjoyed watching people perform on stage and watching people do the dance competitions on stage.P.S it was funny!

2.I enjoy walking around PolyFest and looking  at peoples stalls!

3.I enjoy going to the stages and watching the performances and learning things about their culture dance!

My PolyFest writing

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, faakalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Polyfest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn’t it!  

Young people and their whanau participate in this event because when they dance on the polyfest stage and that dance represents their culture and they want to support their culture.They also want to show what they have learned about the dance and how to do the different culture dances and to show the next polyfest schools how to do the dances!

How does this event promote our different cultures?

It promotes our cultures because of the different ways we can learn about other cultures like how they prepare their food, clothes,and other things!
